BTEC Firsts- Level 2 Certificate in Sport

 

Course Content:

Pupils will complete 2 units

Year 11-  Unit 1: Fitness Testing and Training                                                                          (5 Credits) 

*Fitness and training requirements necessary to achieve  excellence in a selected sport

*Lifestyle factors that affect sports training and performance

*Assessing levels of fitness

*Effects of psychological factors on sports training and performance

Year 12-  Unit 2: Practical Sport (10 Credits)

*Demonstrate a range of skills, techniques and tactics in selected sports

*Rules, regulations and scoring systems of selected sports

*Roles and responsibilities of officials in selected sports

*Review sports

Assessment:

In BTEC Firsts all units are Internally assessed and there are NO Exams.

The course is primarily theory based but assessment can take the form of assignments, written reports, presentations, witness statements, posters as well as practical tasks and practical observations.

Further Information:

The BTEC Level 2 Certificate is broadly equivalent to one GCSE and offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate vocational sector and can extend a learner’s programme of study and provide a vocational emphasis.

To achieve a ‘pass’ a learner must have satisfied all the pass criteria. To achieve a ‘merit’ a learner must additionally have satisfied all the merit criteria and

to achieve a ‘distinction’ a learner must additionally have satisfied all the distinction criteria. Four BTEC First grading domains:

1- Application of knowledge and understanding

2- Development of practical and technical skills

3- Personal development for occupational roles

4- Application of generic skills.
